Orbea Avant takes Cycling Plus Award

In the recent Cycling Plus ‘Bikes of the Year’ awards,’ Orbea has been awarded the Best Disc Brake bike accolade for its new Avant. The model tested was the entry Carbon 105 equipped M50D.

‘A truly stunning frameset which delivers a beautiful ride with excellent braking’ was the assessment of the Cycling Plus team following their time with the Avant.

The Avant project has a geometry has been defined as ‘Sportive’ by Orbea, which means capable of delivering all-day riding pleasure, without compromising on performance when called upon to deliver in a sprint or a spirited KOM effort. The reviewers noted this, stating that the geometry ‘suggest a stable, predictable and ‘possibly’ dull straightforward sportive bike, what you actually get is a steed that’s bursting with fun.’

Orbea’s commitment to the Disc Brake concept is clearly visible throughout the Avant range, with no less than five models available with disc brake options, four carbon and one alloy. The testers also noted that Orbea’s ability to customize components for the consumer means that the basic package can be upgraded in key areas such as drivetrain, wheels and finishing kit, which makes the Avant one of the most flexible packages on the market.
