What’s cyclo-cross and why this bike?
Cyclo-cross is a really tough winter sport that’s very popular in my country, Belgium, and in Holland. To be a competition-level cyclo-cross rider you have to be aware of all the work that’s needed, and that you need technique to reach good speeds and win races. My bike is an Igorre, and it responds perfectly to everything I put it through.
What does the Lobular frame do for you?
One of the basic keys to cyclo-cross is road training. This bike has a high-quality and high-resistance aluminium road bike frame, the Lobular. I train on the road during the week with slicks and I compete at weekends with the cyclo-cross tyres.
What would you highlight about the Mud and Igorre bikes?
They’re high-quality, just like all Orbea bikes, and I can see that they’re really easy to handle, lightweight and very hard-wearing, which are three major features you need if you want a bike that's guaranteed. They also allow you to develop your technique to the full: on sandy ground you need to ride in low gears and grip the central part of the handlebars. The Igorre responds very well to these needs and to tough handling.
