Orbea was founded in 1847 as a family firm specialising in gun manufacturing. In 1930 it changed its market and began to design and manufacture bicycles.

In 1998 Orbea began a process of internationalisation, with a clear aim: to become a global brand and a reference point for all those who enjoy outdoor activities.

As part of our commitment to innovation, we use latest-generation technologies as regards both paint application (using robots in hermetically sealed rooms) and the products used.

This commitment means we ensure environmental protection in all our processes.

The design and realisation of our products is based on a single idea: to provide solutions for the user’s needs. All Orbea’s areas are geared towards this aim: design, engineering, marketing, logistics, quality, etc.

Bicycles, clothing and helmets all undergo a series of production stages: outlining, finite element design, prototype design, prototype testing, manufacture and final assembly.

Orbea manufactures a wide range of bicycles, from mountain and racing bikes to trekking and children’s models. The production system is based on specialist assembly lines for each product type, at different centres all over the world, necessary for the brand’s internationalisation: we are present on over 50 markets in all five continents.

We have:

• Three production plants in:
  • Spain, where we design all the products and then manufacture them at the different plants, manufacturing almost all the products in the range to supply the European market.
  • Portugal, where we manufacture children’s and mountain starter bikes
  • and China, where we manufacture bicycles to cater for immediate supply to the Asian and American markets.
• Assembly plants in the USA and Australia,
• And different subsidiary companies in the UK, Belgium, Holland, France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Russia, etc.

Thanks to our testing laboratories we can perform simulations of real-life situations including jumps, head-on crashes and comfort, to ensure the top quality of all our products.

This exhaustive testing means we are the only European brand that can provide a lifetime warranty for the aluminium and carbon frames we manufacture. We also have the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality and environmental certificates.
