Orbea Teams

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Ordu-rykowicz!

2013-11-03

Andrew Starykowicz did it again. He shattered the Ironman bike split record on his Orbea Ordu again. Orbea Ordu, the fastest bike ever.

4:02:17 is the new magic number of Orbea and Andrew Starykowicz. Last year, the man of Orbea Orca Tri Team took everybody by surprise beating the Ironman bike split world record by getting off the bike at 4:04:39. It was in Florida – his favourite place to continue breaking limits. Coming back to the same event meant a challenge and he beat it off, finishing more than two minutes earlier.

Following the swim, Andrew was 1 minute and 45 seconds back. It was then that he would start to dominate the race. There were 180km ahead in which he would make it clear that the bike course had a ruler: Ordu-rykowicz. He showed throughout that no-one can beat him on his Ordu.

Andrew beat his own record by more than two minutes, finishing the bike split in 4:02:17. Then there was the marathon. But on the run Spain’s Víctor del Corral was really strong and he took the race. Andrew landed second clocking a total time of 7:55:22. He thus became the fastest American triathlete in an Ironman and the first ever to finish an Ironman in less than eight hours.

The Ordu-rykowicz mix set all-time records this year. The man and his bike were the fastest in the bike at Ironman Hawaii, the fastest ever in an Ironman, and now Andrew became the first American to finish an Ironman in less than eight hours.

Congratulations, ORDU-RYKOWICZ!
