About us

  • Orbea today.

We've always looked at the future, evolving and taking up new challenges. Now we're much more than just a factory of bikes: we're style, freedom, escape and, of course, sport.

  • We're proud of our past.

    • - Since 1840 -

We've been witnesses to the events of three centuries.

Our company was first established in Eibar, Gipuzkoa, as a family business, under the name "Orbea Hermanos". In the beginning, we operated in the weapons industry, which had a long history in the region, and in the machine-tool sector.

    • - 1920-1969 -

      We started making bikes.

Our factory produced the first bicycles, and in the late 1960s we grew into a cooperative that was part of the Mondragon Corporation.

    • - 1970-1989 -

We came to be associated with competition sports.

We set up the first Orbea road cycling team and the MTB team, with celebrated victories like Perico Delgado's at the Vuelta a España 1985.

    • - 1990-2002 -

We started selling bikes at the global level.

In addition to the numerous victories by the Euskaltel-Euskadi team, our continuous support to new teams filled this decade with great experiences.

    • - 2003-2011 -

      Product innovation.

Launch of the first Orca, Alma, new product lines like helmets, cycling apparel, Orca Triathlon, etc. The Olympic gold medals of Samuel Sánchez and Julien Absalon, and Jean-Christophe Péraud's silver in Beijing 2008.

    • - 2012 and beyond -

      We've changed.

Although today Orbea has little in common with the original firm, the spirit, principles and commitment to quality are exactly the same.

  • Sharing experiences.

    We believe in you..

We believe in people who think the world is their field of play. We believe in people who, rather than challenging a rival, challenge nature.

  • We are Orbea.

Our values are feelings everyone at Orbea lives by; our values make us who we are.
