Andrew Starykowicz repeats victory at Ironman 70.3 Puerto Rico

2014-04-14

The member of Orbea Orca Triathlon Team was unbeatable on his Ordu defending his title in Puerto Rico.

Andrew Starykovicz climbed atop the podium once again at Ironman 70.3 Puerto Rico. The triathlete of Orbea Orca Triathlon Team put up an amazing performance as usual, taking control of the race on his Ordu to earn his second consecutive win in San Juan.

Germany’s Andi Boecherer was at the front after completing the 1.9km swim, with Starykowicz and Great Britain’s Will Clarke a few seconds back. The setting was great for the American triathlete of Orbea Orca Triathlon Team to start the engine on the 90km bike course, and Andrew’s spark-ignition on his Orbea bike came soon.

Mr. 402’ dropped strong rivals behind one by one, putting on a 5:27 gap on Boecherer and 6:21 on Clarke, with Collins almost 9 minutes down at T2. In the 21km run, the leading trio were likely to land on the podium.

It was soon clear that the Briton had very strong legs, as halfway down the marathon Clarke overpowered Boecherer and set sight on Starykowicz. He was unable to bridge the gap the man sponsored by Orbea and Orca had built in the bike leg, though.

Following his 5th spot at Ironman Panama and his great performance at Ironman 70.3 California, Starykowicz has come back to the top of the podium with his second win at Ironman 70.3 Puerto Rico. We think this will be another great year for the triathlete of Orbea Orca Triathlon Team. Congratulations, Andrew!
