Georgia Gould placed fourth at the USA Cyclocross Nationals

2015-01-14

The member of Luna Pro Team Georgia Gould missed the podium for 17 seconds at the USA Cyclocross National Championships.

The American biker stopped the clock at 0:41:57, crossing the finish line in fourth place. The winner of the day was Katie Compton, defending champion and big favourite, this being her 11th consecutive cyclocross title.

Gould fought throughout to be on the front. Compton started slow but worked her way to get to the front of the field, and then nobody could snatch this place from her. This meant the excitement of the day lay in finding out who would get silver and bronze.

The rider of Luna Pro Team went out too hard and was really tired as the race progressed, but she did not give up along Zilker Park in Austin, finishing fourth.

‘I won’t lie – I’m disappointed, but it’s just fuel for the fire! Thanks everyone for the support. MTB season here I come!!’, Gould wrote on her Twitter after the race.

Now the member of Luna Pro Team will focus on her XC season. The World Cup opener, on 22-24 May, will be held in Nové Město na Moravě, a traditional World Cup round in the Czech Republic.
