Georgia Gould wins again Iceman Cometh!

2014-11-11

Don’t call her Georgia, call her “Icewoman”. Georgia won the Iceman Cometh Challenge under chillingly wet conditions.

The second-time “Icewoman” beat closest top competitor Olympian Emily Batty and Kelly Emmett who settled for second and third respectively.

This was Gould’s second win here in the past three years. For the muddy and non-technical course, Gould correctly chose her Shimano XTR equipped Orbea Alma, finished with Maxxis Aspen tires to help her win the first place. The best part is that there were approximately 5700 entrants in the race!

“This race is amazing! The first time I did it was in 2012 and I was blown away by the quality of the event. I was so bummed to miss it last year when I took the fall off. I was determined to come back this year”, told us Georgia.

Gould had broken away from a group of five, in the only one-lined singletrack section near a logging area.

Iceman Challenge Results:

1 Georgia Gould 2:12:55
2 Emily Batty 2:16:19
3 Kelly Emmett 2:17:40
4 Rebecca Henderson 2:34:06
5 Wendy Zamzow-Blumerick 2:35:10

Katerina takes 2 for 2 at Derby City Cross

Katerina Nash won the weekend’s worth of Derby City ‘cross racing in Louisville, taking each win by a solid margin on both days. Sunday’s win was Katerina’s fourth straight victory since starting the real thrust of her cross season, after a short but restful post-Vegas break.

The night-time event was held in Eva Bandman Park, located along the waterfront near downtown Louisville, the very same site of the 2013 UCI Cyclocross World Championships and the 2012 UCI Masters Cyclocross World Championships.

Katerina now plans to travel towards the grand state of Iowa for the Jingle Cross races in Cedar Rapids.
