Jingle Cross: Katerina Nash wins the first two events of the festival!

Maghalie Rochette finished fifth on day one (Friday), improved to fourth the second day (Saturday), and was tenth on day three (Sunday).
Katerina Nash continued her winning streak, taking the first two events of the three-race Jingle Cross festival at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Iowa. But Courtenay McFadden stole the show on the third snow-covered day of racing, and Katerina had to settle for second place to break the streak.
Maghalie Rochette finished fifth on day one (Friday), improved to fourth the second day (Saturday), and was tenth on day three (Sunday).
Hannah Rae Finchamp did not race because of school on Friday, but still arrived in time to cheer on her teammates. Despite suffering from the end of a bronchitis infection, Finchamp took to the icy slopes on Saturday’s C-1 race, and finished 10th, then managed 37th on Sunday.
Jingle Cross, the crazy and fun Christmas themed event also has the largest payout race weekend in UCI history outside of a World Cup event. The theme really became body heat management, as low temps reportedly dropped to sub-20 degree temps after the sun went down. Maghalie told us that “this race is not called the cold cuddle season for no reason, and the past weekend of racing reminded us of that! In fact, the Jingle Cross weekend wore her name perfectly this year, as the cold temperature and snow brought a very wintery atmosphere to the races”.
