Katerina Nash lands fifth at Cyclo-Cross World Championships in Tábor

2015-02-01

In a most thrilling race, the rider of Luna Pro Team was 36 seconds behind the winner, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot.

Competing at the Cyclo-Cross World Championships in Tábor as the local favourite and very motivated, Katerina Nash finished within the top-five riders in a splendid contested race on a tough, snowy day. The winner in Tábor was French rider Pauline Ferrand-Prévot.

Ferrand-Prévot’s compatriot Lucie Chainel-Lefèvre took the lead and remained on the front for two laps, building a gap on a group of such strong riders as Nikki Harris, Sanne Cant, Marianne Vos, Ferrand-Prévot and Nash. But the winner set the pace high, moving away from Chainel-Lefèvre. It was then that the lady of Luna Pro Team made her move and built a 6-second gap, but unfortunately she crashed and her closest rivals passed her.

Cant moved up to fight for first place with Ferrand-Prévot almost till the end of the race, but the Belgian rider was left behind by the Frenchwoman, who was unbeatable on the final sprint. Vos crossed the finish line only 15 seconds behind the winner, taking third place. Harris and Nash were fourth and fifth, respectively.
