Luna Pro Team go for the 2014 MTB World Cup!

2014-04-09

The veteran team, and one of the biggest achievers in the history of mountain biking, are ready for the XCO World Cup opener, to be held Sunday in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

Luna Pro Team are ready to compete in the first round of the 2014 XCO World Cup, to be held this weekend in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. The US-based team sponsored by Orbea are about to start this year’s MTB season – their 13th time in elite MTB –, looking forward to climb atop the podium again this year.

The Orbea Alma will take the bikers of Luna Pro Team along the seven circuits comprised in the 2014 XCO World Cup.

Without Catharine Pendrel

Bad news: Catharine Pendrel is missing the World Cup opener, since she has recently broke her clavicle. The 2011 World Champion and World Cup winner in 2010 and 2012 will be back in 4 weeks’ time, when she will be strong enough to fight for the best spots in the World Cup.

It is bad news also because Catharine was in great shape and had good chance to win in South Africa. Proof of this is that, of the three US Cup Pro Series held so far, she won two and was runner-up in one.

Highly competitive

If the Canadian biker will miss a few races, Katerina Nash will not. The Czech athlete has set the same goal for this season as she had in previous years. ‘I’ll do my best.’ Katerina, who considers herself as extremely competitive, took part in four Olympic Games and won in legendary venues like Mont-Sainte-Anne in 2013, so having the same goals as before means a lot in her case.

At to Georgia Gould, she hopes she will have the same sensations as in 2012, when she got bronze in both the Olympic Games in London and the World Championships. Last year was not good for her, but the woman from Fort Collins did not compete in the 2013-2014 cyclo-cross season to face this XC season with really strong legs.

Luna Pro Team also includes Teal Stetson-Lee and Maghalie Rochette, a promising biker who joined the team recently. Meet them in this video introducing the Luna Pro Team 2014 staff.

Go, girls, go!
