Maghalie Rochette takes third at Rapha GP Gloucester cyclocross!

2014-10-01

Maghalie Rochette battled to an impressive third place on Day 2 of the Rapha Grand Prix of Gloucester cyclocross race, after taking 8th on the first day

Pronounced, “Glowster”, the town of Gloucester has become synonymous with classic cyclocross racing (for the American cross racing demographic, anyway).

Maghalie regailed, "This weekend was really fun since it is a great venue and there are a lot of people cheering! On day 1, I yoyo-ed at the back of the front group all day long and ended up 8th.".

Maghalie had a better day on Sunday, when she was able to bridge up to the leaders (Arley Kemmerer and Caroline Mani). The second day of the Verge New England Cyclocross Series’ power course still required decent cornering skills for riders to hit sandy corners with momentum. The course became predictably choppy with newly exposed roots and rocks.  Kemmerer managed to hold off the chasing young LUNA Pro, so "the Rolling Rochette" had to settle for third. Rochette did however claim the U23 Women’s lead in the Verge New England Cyclocross Series.

About her Sunday, Mag said, "I decided I was not going to do the same bad positioning game again… So after a bad start, I was around 25th and I made my way through the field to finally end up 3rd. I was happy with the result and with the way I raced.”

Rochette will set her sights on the Night Weasel Cometh CX race this Wednesday before heading to Providence, RI to complete the New England holy week of cyclocross.
