Starykowicz wins Ironman 70.3 Eagleman!

2014-06-09

The triathlete of Orbea Orca Triathlon Team took a big American event awarding 750 Ironman ranking points.

Andrew Starykowicz has added one more title to his beeline path to Kona. The triathlete of Orbea Orca Triathlon Team took Ironman 70.3 Eagleman, defeating such serious rivals as Tim O’Donnell and Leon Griffin. Andrew Yoder was the only one to pull himself closer to Starykowicz, who stormed to the front on his Orbea Ordu.

Yoder was part of the group emerging from the water in the lead, along with New Zealand’s Bevan Docherty, and USA’s Tim O’Donnell and Eric Limkemann. Starykowicz and James Cotter, also an American triathlete, came out of the river a minute back.

The Orbea-sponsored man was quick to respond. On the bike, Starykowicz showed he is a machine on two wheels posting the fastest bike split of the day (3:47:27), with Yoder breathing down his neck. They left T2 3 minutes ahead of O´Donnell and Limkemann.

The world’s fastest triathlete on the bike left Yoder behind in the first half of the run, but Australia’s Leon Griffin, who posted the fastest run of the day, and especially O’Donnell closely challenged the Orbea-sponsored triathlete.

O’Donnell caught the leader and the two of them engaged in a thrilling battle for victory. Starykowicz had more gas and pulled past his fellow countryman. Beating O’Donnell in a really tough run made Starky very happy: ‘Every athlete works hard on their weakness and to finally put in a good run is just awesome,’ he told slowtwitch.com.

Congratulations, Andrew!
