The Orca family trophy case just grew a little bit bigger with the incredible victory of Mikel Iturria, member of the Euskadi - Murias team, after attacking 23 kilometers from the finish line in stage 11 of the Vuelta a España.
After his chasers failed to catch on, the Basque cyclist came away with the victory in a frenetic final that will go down in history.
Today's 180 kilometers and various mountain passes soon favored a massive escape in which Irurria also took part.
The peloton, with great favorites to earn the red winner’s maillot of the Vuelta a España 2019, crossed the finish line more than 18 minutes after Mikel Iturria’s time.
