Koretzky shines and earns fourth place at Lenzerheide

2019-08-11

The French KMC Ekoi Orbea rider had a successful sixth race at the World Cup, held in Switzerland. The victory, once again by a wide margin, went to Van der Poel.

At the end of an extraordinary race, the French KMC Ekoi Orbea rider Victor Koretzky ended up just short of the podium in the sixth race of the calendar, held in Lenzerheide (Switzerland).

Koretzy was always part of the leading group, behind the two great stars of the day. Fighting it out for the top spot, the race offered an impressive duel between Nino Schurter and Van der Poel.

Behind them, another Swiss rider, Mathias Flueckiger, unsuccessfully fought to join the battle for victory alongside his countryman. Further back, an epic battle raged between the next four riders for fourth and fifth place: Koretzy proved to be the strongest of all of them.

Van der Poel prevented what could have been a fantastic Swiss party. In a yet another explosive end to a race, he arrived half a minute ahead of Schurter, who needs only one more victory to tie Absalon’s 33 World Cup titles.
