2019 National Champions: Five titles!

2019-07-22

“National Championships are one of the most exciting competition of the season."

Victor Koretzky: "A childhood dream"

"French National Championships are always special! We were 4 riders leading the race but no one wanted to attack. I have made a big difference thanks to my new Orbea Oiz. It allowed me to rest well in the long slope. I attacked with 3 laps to go and I gave it all I have got to win. This jersey, it is madness! I grew up watching Absalon outshining French MTB and it is unbelievable to wear the same jersey today. I just want to make the most of this tricolored jersey because it is a childhood dream."

Victor Koretzky French national title is the second one in our team, 19 years after Thomas Dietsch victory in 2000 at Pra-Loup.

Annie Last: "One more year"

“National Championships are one of the most exciting competition of the season. I did a brilliant start but I fall quickly after. When I got back on the bike I was third and I lost one minute. I had slowly caught up the two riders ahead and I kept a regular pace to win. I am delighted to wear this English National Champion jersey one more year. I heard about Milan (Vader) and Victor (Koretzky) victories, it is an incredible day for the team! Malene (Degn) also won her national championships, I cannot wait to see our new jerseys during the next Wolrd Cup."

Milan Vader: "Just amazing"

"I was riding close to my home today. I had a perfect knowledge of the tracks and many supporters as well. Today was unbelievable and it is hard to believe I will wear this national champion jersey during an entire year. Winning this title during my first year in Elite is just amazing. We are 7 riders in the team and now four of us will ride flying the flag. I am so proud of us and cheerful to ride with KMC – EKOI – ORBEA team."

Malene Degn wins Danish National Championship

"I was feeling well in the hill but I lost time in the slope. It is a pity, I gave my best shot“, Clauzel commented. "I was not feeling confident before the 2019 Danish National Championship despite my successful World Cup previous results (5th place in Nove Mesto). I really needed to spend more time with my family. Therefore, I prepared this national competition with my MTB crew, my own family and my boyfriend as well. Annika Langvad was out with injury so I had an opportunity to win. I did not feel well during the first lap but I wanted that win so bad!"

"I rode with Orbea Oiz and it was the right choice to make. I attacked with 2.5 lap to go and it was a great effort until the finish line. To me, my mission is accomplished and I am truly proud of this national title! What about the rest of the season? There is no particular plan for now. I just want to take one step at the time but I cannot wait to ride with my new red and white jersey for sure!"

Clauzel is the new Under 23 France vice-champion

Hélène Clauzel took the 2nd place of the French National Championships Under 23 race: “I was feeling well in the hill but I lost time in the slope. It is a pity, I gave my best shot“, Clauzel commented.
