Smashing victory for Nacer Bouhanni at Critérium du Dauphiné!

2015-06-08

The French rider of Team Cofidis beat his rivals in the final sprint that decided stage 2 of Critérium Dauphiné, thus grabbing his most important victory so far this season

Fourth triumph for Bouhanni, sixth for Team Cofidis. Leading race: Critérium du Dauphiné. Impeccable timing: a prelude to the Tour de France. What Nacer accomplished at Parc des Oiseaux, Villars-les-Dombes shows that both the sprinter and Team Cofidis are ready for the hottest part of the season.

Nacer Bouhanni stopped the clock at 4 hours, 23 minutes and 46 seconds, easily smashing his rivals in the final sprint after pedalling for 173km from Le Bourget-du-Lac to Villard-les-Dombes. Samuel Dumoulin (Ag2r-La Mondiale) and Sacha Modolo (Lampre-Merida) filled out the podium. There was no photo finish, though, for the Cofidis sprinter flew to the finish line on his Orca Replica Cofidis.

‘It’s a relief to me and to the team,’ Bouhanni told L’Équipe. ‘I’m really happy. Geoffrey Soupe, Julien Simon and Christophe Laporte were there to support me and helped me stage the ideal situation,’ he added, remaking on the job done by his teammates.

Bouahnni’s win at Critérium du Dauphiné is the most important joint achievement for Orbea and Team Cofidis, showing that the Orca meets their riding skills and needs.

For Nacer, we developed special forks and bottom brackets to capitalise on his explosive sprints. It was intensive yet rewarding work, as shown by the four victories he has claimed so far this season – especially the one at Critérium du Dauphiné, which many considered to be a prelude to the Tour de France.

Congratulations, Nacer! #RideFightWin
