The fall and rise of Nacer Bouhanni

2015-07-12

Nacer Bouhanni has had to drop out of the Tour de France after falling again at the start of stage 5

It is sad, but Nacer is a fighter who knows that going down is part and parcel of racing. And he will surely rise again to become even stronger.

Less than two weeks ago, Nacer Bouhanni was one of the big names for the French National Road Cycling Championships. He was fighting for victory in the final metres when a crash left him out. He seemed to be unable to ride in the Tour de France then, but his fighting spirit brought him to the Grand Départ in Utrecht last Saturday.

Now, a new crash, at the start of stage 5 of the French Grand Tour, is forcing Nacer to drop out of the race he and his teammates had worked so hard to prepare.

It is a situation no-one would have wanted. But Bouhanni’s strength, Orbea’s racing drive and the esprit de corps at Team Cofidis will help us put it behind really fast.

Falling and rising for a stronger comeback: this is our unchanging mantra for top-level competition, spiced up with teamwork and struggle. Accordingly, today we are one day closer to Nacer Bouhanni’s next win.
