The new Occam 29 is perfectly suited for trails and long distance XC riding because it is efficient, light and offers a great level of control. With a 105mm travel, the bike is extremely fast and can go at a blistering pace across rugged terrain. Developed with the Advanced Dynamics technology, the Occam29 is an example of Orbea's strengths in the making of full suspension bikes.

Advanced Dynamics.

The Advanced Dynamics cutting-edge technology uses exclusive software tools that provide engineers with thorough information about bike behavior. There is also the information gathered in tests with prototypes, which turns Advanced Dynamics into the perfect tool to develop full suspension bikes.

Sealed ball bearings.

A bike with four pivot points would need eight ball bearings. Our bike has as many as ten. This bike offers terrific sensitivity because sealed ball bearings are used rather than standard bushings. However, the rear shock mount is what makes the difference. It keeps the bike really stiff and sensitive, and reduces friction while creating an ultra compact system that can be felt in the bike's unbeatable performance.

Downtube Cable Highway.

The Downtube Cable Highway routing solution keeps things tidy and simple in the new Occam29. The cables run along the upper part of the down tube, which prevents interaction with both the suspension system and the pedaling. The derailleur cable runs inside all along. The rear brake and gear cables run on the outside of the tube.

Innovative 29” Geometry.

Speed, responsiveness, stability. These were three of the major goals the new 29er by Orbea should attain. To meet them, we developed the shortest chainstays (445mm) in a 29er. The head tube angle is 70º or 69º for full downhill control. The seat tube angle is 74º for great pedaling power. The longer top tube and the shorter stem work together for increased control.

Construction OMS & Hydro.

The new Orbea Occam29 is built in Silver Carbon and hydroformed aluminum. The Silver models are composed of light, high-modulus carbon fibers that provide stiffness and high impact resistance. The aluminum model is built in Orbea hydroformed triple butted aluminum. The material is extremely light and has impressive mechanical properties.

Internal bearings in main pivot point (28mm OD).

Double 6902 2RS bearings on 15mm thru axle (53mm width). Precision, durability and noise-free performance ensured by one piece of hard anodized 7075 aluminum housing. Maximum stiffness thanks to the double cone locking solution.

C9•12.

One of our construction solutions in the Occam, we have included it in the new Occam29 as well, as it minimizes weight, adds stiffness and safety, and facilitates the direct installation of disk brakes. The exclusive design of the Orbea C9-12 allows for excellent assemble of traditional rear hubs or the new 12mm thru axle hubs (X12, 12x142, 142mm, etc.).
