Vital Concept Cycling Club, out to win the last Spring Classics!

2018-04-13

Jérôme Pineau’s team will compete in the Amstel Gold Race and the Flèche Wallonne, with their sights especially set on the Dutch classic, which is Bryan Coquard’s favorite.

No more cobblestones: the walls are now taking center stage in the Spring Classics. Bryan Coquard has had good luck in the Amstel Gold Race: the French sprinter came in fourth in 2016 and is returning to the first of the three Ardennes Classics with his sights set on the victory.

Since he began to prepare for the season, the race with 35 walls over 263 km– including the mythical Cauberg - was his first big goal of the year, to the point that he refers to this race as “His” Classic. Bryan says he is ready and has a good feeling in his legs, “like two years ago.”

Aware of the difficulty of the challenge (in the Beer Classic he will face off against legends like Peter Sagan, Michal Kwiatkowski and Alejandro Valverde), to reach his goal, Bryan Coquard will rely on the responsiveness and rigidity of our most aerodynamic bicycle: the Orca Aero.

After competing in the Amstel Gold Race this Sunday and with barely any time to recover, the team will head over to Belgium, where on Wednesday, April 18 they will take part in the Flèche Wallonne, the second of the three Ardennes races, which will close out the Vital Concept Cycling Club’s participation in the Spring Classics.
