New Oiz: born to win
We present the new Oiz, a model that we launched in 2005. For more than a decade, it has been the favorite full suspension XC bicycle of the world's most demanding riders
The winner of two world titles at the hands of Catharine Pendrel and numerous World Cups with the Luna Pro Team, the Oiz has been reborn to honor its motto: Born to win.
Oiz uses the most technologically advanced carbon construction available to make the most sophisticated frame possible – A complex and painstaking process with results you will appreciate on the trail. Prepreg carbon sheets are laser cut to minimize excess materials and overlap, and hours of premolding ensure optimal compaction with the smallest amount of carbon. Engineering a frame that uses as much carbon as possible of course saves weight but it also contributes to the sophistication and refinement of Oiz. Features like UFO and Tensegrity take full advantage of carbon’s capabilities and put Oiz in a category by itself.
Advanced Dynamics is not a design, but a development process. Our unique method transforms virtual models into real, highly-refined machines – Bikes for demanding riders that are faster, more fun to ride and far beyond ordinary.
The suspension kinematics of the Oiz are perfect for efficient XC riding. Sag can be set low for a firm pedaling feel and the design still delivers a full 95mm of travel when needed. The leverage ratio increases for the first 3/4 of the shock stroke, then switches to a falling rate to overcome the progressive nature of the air shock to achieve full travel on large impacts. Custom tuning of the damper minimizes bottom-out forces and keeps the suspension riding high, maintaining geometry and efficiency.
We’ve done away with the pivot point at the rear axle. The flexible seat stay design creates an ultralight bike that requires little maintenance and offers stiffness and acceleration like you’ve never felt in a full suspension bike. The secret lies in the shape and materials that allow flex without approaching the critical deformation point. This technology, which has been long in use in F1 cars, delivers unrivaled weight-stiffness balance.
Oiz becomes more precise and responsive with the increased rigidity of a 12mm through-axle system. The Boost 148 standard widens rear axle spacing to 148mm which moves the chainline outboard by 3mm and increases the space available at the bottom bracket. 3mm doesn’t sound like much, but it means that chain stays can be quite short (425/440mm) while increasing tire clearance to allow 2.4” tires. All of it adds up to more durability, nimble handling and an Oiz that tracks better through rough terrain.
We have combined the lightness, reactivity, rigidity and sheer power of the previous version with Boost technology and 100% internal wiring; we have included a direct mount for the front derailleur on the seat tube and we have made it all compatible with one of the latest trends in XC bikes: dropper seatposts. The Oiz also debuts new colors that make it even more attractive.
