The traditional women’s race, Elsy Jacobs was held from the 10 th -12 th of May in Luxembourg. It’s a special race for Team WNT-ROTOR Pro Cycling, because one of the main sponsors “CERATIZIT” has their headquarters in Mamer, which is a stone’s throw from the race.

On the first day the riders had to do a 2.7km prologue with a climb over the half of the track. Our leader, Lisa Brennauer was the penultimate rider to get underway, posting the second-best time, 6 seconds behind the eventual winner Demi Vollering. The strong team result was completed by Kathrin Hammes (5 th ), Clara Koppenburg (6 th ) in her first race back after an operation and Erica Magnaldi (16 th ).

On Saturday a 107.1km course was on the schedule, including cold and wet weather the race was going to be very hard for the riders. In the last lap a small group escaped from the peloton, where unfortunately no rider from our team was in. At the end of the race the peloton nearly caught the group again and Lisa finished 9 th , a great opportunity for the general classification sitting only 7 seconds behind the leader.

The final stage on Saturday was over 111.1km and the weather was much better than the day before. During the race the team did the most work of all teams in the peloton and was in nearly every breakaway. But no group escaped from the peloton. There was a strong attack from a CCC-LIV rider who managed to escape the peloton around 7km before the finish line. Again, the team did an incredible job and caught the leader right on the finish line, so that Lisa could win the stage with an impressive sprint. With the time bonus of the win, Lisa was able to jump to the top of the standings and win the overall general classification, as well as the points jersey.

Thanking her teammates after the race, Lisa said:

“I have to say thank you to the whole team, riders and the staff. This is such a great victory. I’m so proud about how we rode as a unit today. All the attacking the girls did throughout the whole stage as well as taking care of me. I am just so thankful to my team!”
