The Orbea Klasika Bilbao-Bizkaia:the celebration of Basque cycling

We present a very challenging one-of-a-kind cycling event with a medium fondo format, to be held 28 September 2019 in Bizkaia. The place that has been our home for years.
Coast, mountain and city in 128 hard kilometers. A route with a view of Bilbao from one of its privileged vantage points, passing through coastal landscapes like the Urdaibai Natural Biosphere or climbing World Tour-category mountain passes like the Balcón de Bizkaia (Oiz).
It’s the Klasika Orbea Bilbao-Bizkaia, the new festival of Basque cycling. A race for anyone who wants to put a special finishing touch on their season. The last and toughest challenge. A one-of-a-kind event on the cycling tourism calendar that will be held on September 28, 2019.
It’s ingredients, no less than 128 kilometers and 2,800 meters of climbing, with the starting and finish lines at Alto de Artxanda (Bilbao). This route is just as demanding as it is beautiful, passing by historic tourism points in the region and climbing six mountains. Some well known, others not as much: Aretxabagane, Balcón de Bizkaia (Oiz), Nabariz, Rigoitia, Urruztimendi and El Vivero.
The medium fondo format will have three of its six mountains timed. Even though the course only covers 128 kilometers, the difficult is high. Especially during the last 30 km. Far from coasting to the finish line, riders will have to save their strength to give it all they’ve got and reach the top of El Vivero, with its magnificent view of Bilbao.
Registration begins
If you intend to tackle a challenge of this level, we will start taking registrations on January 24 at 12:00 pm on the event website. The registration fee will be €55.

Today, Bizkaia is our home and we feel indebted to this land. That's why we want to show our region off to you and allow you to experience it, so you get to know part of the land that has made cycling our passion.
We can't think of a better way of doing this than through what we like best: pedaling on a bike.
