The American rider never ceases to amaze us with his every performance. This time, he managed an incredible average speed of 47.4 km/h over the 90 km of the Ironman 70.3 cycling stage in Monterrey, Mexico.
Andrew Starykowicz continues to be unstoppable. This time, the American triathlete managed an incredible average speed of 47.4 km/h over the 90 kilometers of the cycling stage in the Ironman 70.3 held in Monterrey, Mexico, after pedaling 1h 54' 05" on his Ordu.
This enabled the American cyclist to come in first place at the second transition of the competition, with a lead of nearly 4 minutes over those behind him. As a comparison, Andrew’s average speed on his bicycle in this Ironman was faster than that by Chris Froome in the 9.7 km time trial at the Giro d'Italia 2018, when he recorded an average time of 46.3 km/h. It was also slightly under the time recorded by the winner of that race and current world time trial champion, Tom Dumoulin, who recorded an average time of 48.3 km/h to take away the victory.
In the end, Andrew climbed the podium in second place at the Ironman 70.3 de Monterrey, after crossing the finish line a little over a minute after the winner of the race, French athlete Antony Costes.

A few short weeks ago, the same Andrew Starykowicz broke the world record in a cycling stage of an Ironman competition after stopping the clock for the 172-kilometer stage at 3 hours, 54 minutes and 59 seconds. Andrew broke the same record that he set in 2017, when he finished the cycling stage in the same competition in 4 hours, 1 minute and 15 seconds.
