3rd Bilbao Triathlon to take place in a month!

Sponsored by Orbea, the race will be the official debut of Orbea-Orca Triathlon Team

The date? 18 May. The day of the 3rd Bilbao Triathlon, when the Orbea-Orca Triathlon Team will make their official debut as a team. One more reason to enjoy an event that is getting stronger every year in the European triathlon scene.

Andrew Starykowicz, who set a world Ironman bike split record, Sweden’s Åsa Lundström, and Albert Moreno, a rising star in Spanish triathlon, will be the members of Orbea-Orca Triathlon Team participating in the race. The 3rd Bilbao Triathlon will draw other big names as well, like two-time champions Virginia Berasategui and Mikel Elgezabal, Portugal’s Sergio Marques (third in Ironman Lanzarote 2012), Joanna Lawn (six times within the top 10 in Ironman Hawaii) and even legends in other sports like former football player Luis Enrique.

Record entry spots booked!

The event smells like (new) success. The 720 places (70 more than in 2012) sold out in December last year, only three weeks after they had been made available.

The course will be the same as last year in the swim and bike legs; the run, however, will be different. It will consist of three laps on a full circuit along the river banks, past such Bilbao landmarks as the Guggenheim Museum or the Euskalduna Conference Centre.

These days, Bilbao is breathing fresh triathlon air!
