On March 22, Orbea launched an iPhone application for interested consumers and dealers, as a new step forward in communication between Orbea and its fans.
The app will allow access to all the company information, updated to the second. The first phase will include the USA catalogue, news on Orbea-sponsored athletes, company information and all the major events (shop demos, races, tradeshows, dealer encounters, etc.) And all the Orbea bike models of course, including a product development section.
It also has a section called ‘Inside Orbea’, where users can take a trip around the Orbea factory, learn about the history of a firm that is a firm reference point in the cycling world, and obtain all the contact details.
Phase II: user interaction
Orbea USA administrative manager Tony Karklins says that phase II of the project is where the application will really come alive, when Orbea will be closer to its users and can find out their opinions and “know what they really want”. He is sure the day will come when people will be able to work with the app as “a sales and product-related decision-making mechanism”. Tech videos and options such as order collection or Orbea warranty registration will be available through iPhone.
Ronnie Points, Orbea USA’s sales manager, sees the possibilities of this new application as “endless, once the Orbea app community is built”. For him, one of the most outstanding benefits is that “letting our users know about new models or Orbea events in their area will be much quicker and easier”.
