The epic race Mongolia Bike Challenge 2012 is kicking off 28 July and is expected to be more exciting than ever
The epic race Mongolia Bike Challenge 2012 is kicking off 28 July and is expected to be more exciting than ever: racers from 19 countries, ten stages running along 1,400km, 14,000m of climbing and as many as 108 riders who are ready to give everything they got and live the experience of their lifetimes. Our new Occam 29er will be the official bike of the event.
A unique model for a unique race that is both a physical and a mental challenge. Tough as it may be, the Mongolia Bike Challenge rewards participants with the beauty of Mongolia’s contrasting landscapes, from the extreme sandy desert to the green color of the demanding mountain passes or the crystal-clear watercourses. Inspiring, isn’t it?
The race, which will finish on 9 August, will take place one more time in the solitary steppes of Mongolia. It begins in the heart of Ulan Bator and finishes 1,400km away, next to the Erdene Zuu monastery, in Karakorum. You will find the official tracks on the race’s official site.
The Warrior’s Rest
Riding along the same places as Genghis Khan stepped on will inevitably awaken the conqueror within the brave participants. At the end of all stages, they will be really tired, as the soldiers of the Mongol Emperor must have felt. But the participants in the Challenge will be able to enjoy not only the atmosphere of camaraderie that defines the mood of the experience but also the restorative yoga sessions led by Ryan Leech, a renowned professional mountain biker himself and an experienced yoga instructor who knows about the benefits of yoga for cyclists.
The competition is a stiff test indeed. In the first and second editions, only 70% participants achieved the title of Finisher.
